Yawning the sixteen year old pulled himself up and out of the desk chair, he really did spend too much time on his macbook air. He checked the time, it was almost seven, hearing his stomach growl hungrily he realized why he was so hungry. He hadn’t eaten since breakfast, which as per usual was either a blueberry muffin or a banana muffin on a good day. Ciaran logged himself of the Camp’s online chat room, an idea invented to help create unity and team spirit throughout the summer, which in C’s opinion didn’t really work that well, and picked his iPhone up from the desk from where he’d placed it after calling Tyler.
Stuffing the piece of genius technology into the pocket of his dark blue skinnies and telling his room mate he was off to grab food, Ciaran turned to leave his summer dormitory. He’d grabbed his worn dark grey skinny fitted cardigan on the way out and occupied himself with finding the sleeve holes whilst he walked briskly to the Camp’s canteen.
He reached the cafeteria in no time at all and didn’t waste anymore by standing around. Walking straight up to the food counter, grabbing one of the red trays on his way, he helped himself to a plate of tomato pasta and a bottle of some own branded diet pepsi. Pushing his long hair out of his eyes skilfully without dropping his tray he plonked himself on an empty table in the far left corner; where his friends and him usually sat.

Throwing his phone violently across the room, Tyler yelled and flapped angrily at his unfortunate roommate, Clarence the clarinet player. Also known as Jesus. Without giving the other boy a chance to make a stupid comment, Tyler stormed out of his room and walked moodily towards the cafeteria where he was going to meet Ciaran. He narrowly avoided grabbing his towel to chew on the way there. Not the coolest look, to be honest. As a substitute, he started chewing on the sleeve of his hoodie.
It didn’t take him long to arrive at the cafeteria. The smell of good old Greek cooking left a faint, mouth watering and spicy scent on the air. But then there were the usual culprits like pizza and burgers and fish fingers available as well. Tyler smiled at the cute Greek girl who washed the dishes, and then scanned the room for Ciaran. He spotted the feminine boy sitting at their usual table, and grinned widely. Sauntering over, he ran his hands through his hair; he sat down in front of Ciaran and cupped his chin in his hands. “Hey, Baby C,” he drawled, his accent thickly English. It was one of his personal goals was to keep the Australian accent out of his voice as long as possible. Grinning cheekily, Tyler’s mind churned with plotting. People have put a little bit of a reputation on his head of recent; Tyler Bradford is always up to something. Stretching his legs, he ‘accidently’ brushed his leg against Ciaran’s, to test the waters.

Pushing the tray of food onto the table in front of him Ciaran glanced around the half empty canteen, knocking the bottle of pepsi over with his elbow. Frowning he grabbed the bottle with his hand and placed it upright again.Impatiently he screwed the lid off and was pleasantly granted by a spray of toffee coloured foam. Swearing under his breath he held the drink in front of him, taking a handful of napkins from the centre of the table and dabbing at his skinny jeans forcefully. After certain he’d cleaned up the mess, and made it clear he hadn’t wet himself he took the fork of his tray and poked his pasta.
Looking up from his food, holding his hair back with one hand, C spotted Tyler, and smiled back in return, before shoving tomato covered pasta shells into his mouth with the fork. Swallowing he muttered a “Hey” back and glanced at his Australian stroke English friend, silently grimacing at the nickname. Baby C. He wasn’t particularly fond of it, but he wasn’t planning to do anything about it. The sudden touch from Tyler’s leg on his made him jump slightly, and he swallowed again, a sudden bunch of nerves appearing from no where. Attempting not to notice, Ciaran grabbed his soda again, this time succeeding in opening the bottle, and took a sip. Finishing his mouthful he fidgeted slightly in his seat and opened his mouth to ask, “So, this whole Jared thing…?” he said, fiddling with the pepsi lid, "Cassie likes him, you don't, he's out?".

Tyler tried very hard to keep the excited expression off of his face, and tried very hard not to squirm in his seat. Ciaran was responding excellently. Exactly how he was planning it out in his head. Leaning in a bit, he grinned slightly creepily, but the expression fell when the name Jared was mentioned. ’Don’t lose your cool mate, come on, think fast,’ he thought frantically, scraping his scattered Jared-subject thoughts together. Although Tyler was a great little liar and a total gossip queen, he did get a bit lost in his own thoughts when he was thinking up new plots. “Um yeah pretty much. I don’t understand. He’s eighteen, he’s not half bad looking and he’s really nice. Like, perfect ladies man kind of thing. There’s definitely something wrong there,” he grinned again, regaining his awesome coolness. God, he was so cool you could keep a side of meat in him for a month. So hip he had difficulty seeing past his pelvis and other such Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy quotes.
“Anyway, I’m sick of talking about fucking Jared, what about you Baby C?” he said, swinging the conversation in a more favourable direction. He didn’t want to get into the subject of Jared, and he was weary now that Cass’ little contest was out. He didn’t know what she was going to try to get people to do for them to win the dreaded pictures. But surely he could trust Ciaran? It wasn’t like he hadn’t already seen the skirt incident...although whether he remembered it clearly or not was another matter all together. Tyler certainly didn’t.

Ciaran scooped up another pile of pasta onto his fork, but hesitating on shoving it in his gob or not, for some reason he wasn’t hungry anymore. He shoved in the pasta, swallowed, and downed some more of his drink. Looking up to find Tyler closer than he last remembered almost made him jump again, and he felt himself become just a little uncomfortable. God knows why, Ciaran was just being paranoid again. He was always paranoid, and well, he didn’t understand the sudden change in Tyler’s actions, or well intentions. If they even had suddenly changed, or maybe Ciaran hadn’t even noticed for the past year.
Frowning slightly he picked at the label on his pepsi bottle and pushing his fringe back from his eyes as it blocked his vision again. The sixteen year old didn’t really understand the problem with the Jared situation, but he didn’t feel like arguing, and just shrugged to Tyler’s explanation. “Fair enough” He said blankly, prodding his fork distastefully around his pasta dish, “Mhmm” He nodded in agreement, not really bothered whether they talked about Jared or not, “You seen the gossip wall?” He said, grinning slightly and taking another sip of the pop.
“What about me?” He asked, looking up again placing his half empty bottle on the plastic table, now occupying his hands by fiddling with his grey cardigan having decided he wasn’t going to eat anymore of the pasta shells in front of him.

Tyler stared down at the bowl of pasta, watching Ciaran poke his fork around at the little shell shapes. Although he’d already eaten his dinner, Tyler was feeling peckish again. All this drama and excitement was making him hungry. Looking up at Ciaran’s face, he had to admit that the guy was actually pretty good looking. Okay, insanely hot. But Tyler was straight. He had to be. Why would that not be the case? On the other hand, Ciaran looked like a bloody girl so maybe it was alright to think he was pretty? Snapping out of his revere, he reached out and picked up a pasta shell from the bowl and stuck it in his mouth, chewing the one piece of pasta slightly excessively. He hoped he wasn’t being too forward. He had to take little steps, if he wanted to make this work, but maybe Ciaran would convince himself that this strange behaviour has actually been going on the whole year they’ve known each other. Tyler got lost in his musings, and hardly caught what Ciaran said next. “Huh, whut, of course I’ve seen the bloody wall shut up,” he snapped, trying to push the conversation as far away from anything to do with Cassandra and Jared. This wasn’t how his little plot was going to work.
“Well I don’t know do I? I’m not you. Something about you. Anything,” he grinned his creepy, I’m-up-to-something grin, “Whatever floats your boat.” Leaning forwards again, glancing up to catch Ciaran’s eyes from such a close angle, he snatched the bowl of pasta and retreated to his side of the table and tucked in. Yes it’s true, Tyler’s a greedy pig.

Folding the corners of his jumper back a bit, he may have lanky arms but the cardigan almost drowned him. It must’ve been made for Mr Tickle or something, and Ciaran found it highly irritating. He sighed to himself, telling himself to stop being so freaking paranoid, about what he wasn’t even entirely sure, and stop fidgeting. It made him look nervous, he wasn’t nervous. There was simply nothing to be nervous about. Shaking his fringe out of his face for the billionth time his bright blue eyes flashed around the canteen again, the room beginning to empty. His aqua eyes fell upon Tyler again and he blinked stupidly, then with a second hesitation realised he looked awkward and pushed the plate of pasta away from himself. He wasn’t going to eat it anyway.
Ciaran shrugged again and laughed quietly, the gossip wall apparently another touchy subject. He drummed his fingers on the edge of the table deciding not to push that conversation further, blinking stupidly again as they came into eye contact again. Slightly confused, well more than slightly to be perfectly honest, at Tyler’s random questions about himself Ciaran frowned again, not understanding the meaning of it at all. He placed his elbows on the diner table and clapped his hands together, “…why…? You know nearly everything about me anyway?” C laughed, but that wasn’t true. There were plenty of things about himself that no one really knew, but he wanted that to stay that way, and he wasn’t even sure he wanted to know himself. He picked up the bottle again, still feeling fidgety, and took another sip.

Tyler’s grin remained fixed as he watched Ciaran fidget nervously, the blue flash of his eyes restlessly glancing all around the room. He almost made a stupid comment about it, but bit his tongue. Now was not the time for insults. That’d totally ruin his little game plan. The biggest problem with Tyler was definitely this; he always lived his life like he was playing a game, and he was playing to win it. He didn’t like to let things just ‘go with the flow’. He had to make the flow go with him. Or he paddled against the flow, just to be different. His life was a game, the people in it were the game pieces and he was the games master, using the little pieces for his own amusement. And that there, was Tyler’s biggest flaw.
Scooping up pasta shapes that he’d just stolen off of Ciaran, he made his fixed grin a little wider. His cheeks were hurting but he didn’t stop. “Exactly. I know nearly everything. What don’t I know?” he stretched his leg again, toes brushing against Ciaran’s ankle. He didn’t feel a thing, really. Okay who was he kidding? It felt good, this weird flirting thing he’d initiated. He didn’t know why, but it was giving him a buzz. “Surprise me.”

Ciaran didn’t know what was wrong with him all of a sudden, I mean, he had no idea why he was becoming all anxious around Tyler. He was just being paranoid, but it wasn’t as if he hadn’t like, felt like this before. He’d told himself time and time again that he had to be straight, well he was, but he knew he couldn’t help attraction towards certain guys. Shaking his head, as an attempt to shake the thoughts from his crowded mind he pushed back his fringe again, and looking up at Tyler.
The bassist concentrated on not fidgeting, which probably made him look even more ridiculous, he was really a crap actor. He stopped drumming his fingers on the table and rested his head on his hands, shrugging again, trying to just act normal alongside Ty’s strange behaviour. Frowning again, he glanced across the table at his best friend, “There isn’t that much too know?” He said with a slight laugh, blowing his hair off his face. He shrugged again, then grinned, “I’m allergic to peas” he said plainly. Glancing around the canteen again, he couldn’t help feeling slightly jumpy he turned back to see Tyler grinning widely again. Laughing slightly he asked, “Dude, are you high again or something?”
Post by Tyler Bradford on Feb 21, 2009 22:13:23 GMT
Tyler was getting fidgety too now, mostly because he was watching Ciaran fidget. Taking another bite of the pasta shells he’d stolen off of Ciaran, he gazed at him as longingly as he could muster. Unlike Ciaran, Tyler was an excellent actor. After a while he got a bit bored with eating Ciaran’s food, he pushed it as far to the side as he could reach and then leaned in towards Ciaran again. “Peas, huh?” he drawled, sounding genuinely uninterested. His leg crept forwards to nestle between Ciaran’s, his expression only twitching into a smirk for a fraction of a second. He was quite tempted to go straight for putting his foot up on Ciaran’s thigh but he thought that might have been a bit too much for the poor boy. “Guess what?” Tyler said suddenly, his eyes glinting excitedly. He left a long pause, and never gave the answer. Reaching out he placed his hand softly on top of Ciaran’s, in the most awkward, shy way he could muster. He put just enough force on his hand to make sure Ciaran didn’t snatch his hand away, making it clear he’d just grab it back and make this even more awkward. Acting cautious, he stroked his fingers across the back of Ciaran’s hand, gazing stupidly.

Not understanding at all what was going on, if there even was anything going on Ciaran swallowed nervously, and told himself to not get paranoid or nervous, and just act normal. But then again, normal for Ciaran was usually being paranoid or secretly nervous about something anyway. But now, suddenly he was more nervous, and he couldn’t help feel it had something to do with his own sexuality. I mean, oh he didn’t know. It was confusing.
He didn’t know what to think about the way in which Tyler was acting, he was either flirting whilst sober, or flirting whilst completely high. Ciaran was unsure, but he knew he wasn’t unsure about the sudden attraction to his friend. Ciaran nodded, it was true, allergic to peas. He hated them anyway, so it was fine with him, but felt himself bite his lip in an attempt to stay focused and not look like an idiot. Shuffling slightly in his seat when he felt the extra closeness of a leg that wasn’t his, obviously Tyler, he felt himself frown again. This better not be some cruel joke, should he play along or not, well C had an inkling that if he did he wouldn’t even need to play along. “…What?” he looked at Tyler for the answer of his question, still frowning in a mixture between frustration, confusion and annoyance, which didn’t come, and jumped slightly as he placed his palm on his hand. He twitched his fingers slightly attempting to move his hand away but decided against that impulse. Still frowning, his expression almost looking one of pain, Ciaran opened his mouth, “What are you doing?” He said, laughing, attempting to sound normal and blinking his blue eyes stupidly.

Up in her dorm room, Cassie's room mate was, as usual, giving her a headache. How was it that she managed to end up trapped with this... creature who liked to blast the fucking Jonas Brothers out of her iPod dock for hours on end? A low growl tore through the brunette's throat, and she got to her feet, ripping the iPod off the docking station and throwing it from the open window at full force. She just couldn't take that bollocks any longer.
Still furious with her pathetic excuse for a roomie, Cassie grabbed a ten from her bedside table, stuffing the money into the back pocket of her tight-fit denim shorts before storming outside. She pulled the too-long sleeves of Tyler's "borrowed" hoodie down over her hands, the way she always did when she was stressed out, and made her way down to the cafeteria. I need a coffee she thought, still tugging unconsciously at her sleeves. Cassie couldn't remember the last time she'd left her room without this jacket. If she wasn't careful, people were going to think it had fused to her skin or something. But never mind, she liked wearing it. It made her feel... safer, somehow.
As she paid for her drink, she spotted two familiar faces sitting at her usual table and smirked. Tyler seemed to be messing with baby C, again. He was holding the other boy's hand across the table, and a closer look confirmed that he also had his leg nestled in with Ciaran's. Ty had his back to Cassandra, but she was in plain view of Ciaran's face. He looked... confused. She quirked an eyebrow at the youngest boy, and forced back a giggle as she made her way over to them.
"Aah, young love." she teased, as she slid into her usual seat beside Tyler. "How sweet."

To his own surprise, Tyler found himself feeling nervous. Pressing his leg against Ciaran’s slightly harder, he tried to smile comfortingly but ended up looking a little bit creepy. He shrugged in a delayed manner to Ciaran pressing for an answer, and moved his hand so their fingers were entwined. Wow this felt so ... so weird, yet at the same time it felt amazing. He’d never got this worked up about just holding someone’s hand. This was Ciaran’s hand he was holding. This wasn’t just any old person. But what about Cass? His gut clenched angrily for a moment. Right now he couldn’t care less if Cass fell down a ditch and broke her neck. Okay so that was an overstatement. He liked to think he wouldn’t give a damn but if it really happened he’d be the first one to rush to see her in hospital, no question about it. “What does it look like I’m doing, Baby C?” he murmured soothingly in reply to Ciaran’s nervous laughter.
He got lost in the moment, and didn’t notice when Cassandra came over and sat next to them. When she spoke, he leapt out of his skin and nearly tipped back off his chair as he pulled his hand away from Ciaran’s at break neck speed. “Huh what?!” he yelled, waving his arms madly in an attempt to regain his balance. He thudded back onto all four legs of his chair and looked between Cass and Ciaran like a deer at gunpoint. “Huuh?” he whined, bringing his hand to his mouth and chewing on the sleeve of his hoodie. He noticed Cass was wearing one of his old hoodies. Well actually it wasn’t that old, but he’d pretty much given up hope of getting it back by now.

She'd held it back when she first saw them, but after Tyler's deer-in-headlights impression, Cassie couldn't help but to giggle softly. "Relax, baby, like I said.." she soothed, running a hand up his arm and letting her fingertips trace gently over the defined muscle there through the fabric of his hoodie "It's sweet." Cassie laughed again, and pivoted sideways in her plastic seat, kicking off her shoes before resting her feet in Tyler's lap with a satisfied "ahh" as she took the first sip of her latte.
"So, what? I'm being shunned now that I'm dating Jared?" Cassie joked, scooping some of the topping from her coffee on the spoon, "having secret meetings without me... Tyler, if you're scheming again, I swear to god..." she offered to spoon full of whipped cream and caramel sauce to Tyler with a smirk, "I'll kill you both." Of course, she had no idea what she had actually interrupted...

Still feeling incredibly strange, Ciaran had no idea what to do, how to act, or just in general how to really take this situation. It better not be some cruel joke because from what he was actually realising from this, well, it would hurt him if it was. He wasn’t actually resenting Tyler’s change in behaviour towards him. He swallowed nervously, glancing at the boy opposite him still frowning slightly as if he was thinking hard about something and felt a small small smile tug at his lips when their fingers became linked.
He opened his mouth to reply, with what he wasn’t even sure, but froze when his blue eyes fell upon a person walking towards them. It was Cassie; he attempted a smile and almost jumped as well when Tyler suddenly lurched away from him, pulling their hands apart. Swallowing again he snatched up his almost finished diet pepsi bottle, twisting the lid open in order to give himself something to do. He wasn’t sure if he was blushing or not, he couldn’t tell but suddenly he felt awkward around his two best friends.
He pretended to act normal, well, just as he usually did, when Cass put her feet on Tyler’s lap and stroked his arm, but deep down, realising for the first time, he was in fact incredibly jealous. Ciaran frowned to himself, and told himself to snap out of it, taking a sip of his soda. He didn’t say anything because in all honesty he had nothing to say. He just sat there in silence, managing a small laugh when Cass spoke about secret meetings and the like.
