Cassie knelt all alone on the dark, deserted beach, with the wind whipping at her hair and clothes, which were totally soaked through. Breathlessly she stared down at the thing she'd unearthed in the sand. She'd been out here for hours, digging like crazy through the white sand since just after lunch. The sunlight had faded, and the rain had began to pour, but still she hadn't stopped. She couldn't. Not until she found it. And now that she had, she didn't quite know what she was going to do with it. At first, her plan was just to clean it up and take it back to her dorm. To put it back into her wardrobe and wear it as often as she could. But now that she was staring down at the hoodie, drenched in seawater, rain, and a sticky coating of wet sand, that didn't seem like enough. No, she needed a bigger gesture than that.
It took a matter of minutes for Cassandra to decide. Quickly, she stood up, hugging the soggy, salty hoodie tightly to her chest, and started to make her way back up to the Camp. The American didn't even worry about the stares she got as she marched purposely through the halls of team Auz's dorm building, eye make up streaking down her face dramatically and her drenched hair clinging to the sides of her head. She charged into dorm number one without even knocking, and threw the hoodie down on the bed, where it's original owner was currently tucked up asleep, his favourite towel clutched to him.
"Tyler, get up." Cassie muttered in the darkness, as her tears mixed with the rainwater on her face. "I... look, please can we just stop all this? I miss you." She sighed heavily, pushing her hair off her face as she let herself cry properly about all this for the first time. The tears came in floods- bucket loads, pouring down her face as if they had no plans to ever stop. "Ty?" her voice was weak, anxious. "Please." [/blockquote]

Tyler was in a foul mood. He was pissed off because it was raining, but also he’d been stuck in his dorm all day with Jesus. Another problem – his phone refused to charge. So he couldn’t text Ciaran. And the worst of it was, he’d lost his voice. So when Jesus continued to prattle on about his bloody fish, Tyler couldn’t yell at him which normally made him feel better. Although normally he would have probably punched the stupid idiot in the face, he was feeling too lethargic to bother. So after spending all day in a permanently pissed off state of mind, he decided to climb into bed early and hope Clarence would get the point and shut up if he pretended to go to sleep.
Peeking out from under the covers, Tyler saw that Clarence had gone to bed early too and he reached under his bed and pulled his towel out from underneath it. Turning over he shoved the corner in his mouth and chewed on it crossly. He didn’t dare do it in front of Clarence anymore – the boy suffered some kind of ‘Tell-everyone-Tyler’s-embarrassing-secrets’ tourettes. Sighing he closed his eyes and tried to push everything out of his mind.
He had obviously succeeded in clearing his head because the next thing he knew, he was awake. Opening his eye slowly, he listened carefully. What had woken him up? It was still dark...if that stupid nerd in the bed next to him was being a retard again Tyler was just about ready to kill him. Closing his eyes again, he was about to just go back to sleep when something thudded down onto his bed. Jumping in surprise, he sat up and stared blindly into the darkness. There was a slightly darker patch of darkness by his bed. A Cass shaped patch of darkness. Frowning to himself, he shoved the towel down the side of the bed and rubbed his eyes sleepily. “Ngh?” he croaked, wondering what was so important that she came and woke him up. He felt his eyes sting sadly at her words and he nodded slowly. Holding out his arms, he tried to smile but it looked watery. “M’sorry,” he said as loud as his voice would let him. It hurt to speak but he kind of deserved it.

The sobbing American threw herself into the arms of the sleepy Brit, and hugged him tightly in relief. She clung to Tyler tightly, not wanting to let him go ever again. He'd been a totally and complete asshole, but she just couldn't handle being away from him any longer; it felt too much like drowning. Without her best friend by her side, even for these handful of days, Cassie had been a complete wreck. It was almost as if part of her, the part that did whatever the hell she felt like and had a brilliant time doing it, had landed in the sand beside the hoodie, and the only way to get it back was to fix things with Tyler. That had been why she didn't arrange another date with Jared- not because she didn't want to, but because she knew that she'd have a horrible time unless her friendship was repaired first.
Still hugging him as tightly as she could, Cassie lifted her tear-stained face from Tyler's chest so that she could smile up at him. "m'sorry, too." she whispered back, her voice almost as hoarse as his. "It was so shit without you, sweetcheeks." Cassandra grinned, leaning up slightly so she could kiss her best friend. The kiss was on the lips, but it was platonic- there wasn't any of the passion that you'd expect if they were a couple. Best friends just didn't kiss each other like that. Even though some part of Cassie sort of wanted to. She bit her lip and pulled back, looking away. No, don't be a moron. she thought, mad at herself, Why the hell do you want to go complicating things all over again? [/blockquote]
