Sound proofing is useless if you forget to close the door. Avarei was sitting at the white baby-grand piano in practice room three, and even though she thought the door was shut, it hadn't quite clicked. On other words, anyone walking past would hear her singing and playing. It wasn't that big a deal, but it would be sort of embarrassing when she found out later on. Her soft, melodic voice rang out loudly as she played each chord, unique, sweet and sorrowful. It was a song she'd composed herself, and even though she was happy with it, Ava knew it needed some work. Her eyebrows knotted together in concentration, and the gentle music came to an abrupt halt.
"Merde." she murmured, closing the lid of the piano so she could lean on it, and resting her chin on her hand. "This is useless. Maybe I should just re-work the whole thing..." Talking to herself. It was one of Avarei's worst habits. Still, it was also the best way to process her thoughts, and it didn't really matter that it was a weird thing to do if no one could hear her....Rationalisation was another thing she really needed to work on. The only person to ever get up later than everybody else was always Holly, for such a little person she needed a lot of sleep; either that or she's just incredibly lazy. Taking forever to get ready as she normally does she left her shared dorm adorned in her favourite yellow outfit, it makes a change as she's usually always dressed in some variety of pink. Yawning as she rubbed her eyes with the side of her hands and trying not to smudge her makeup she went for a walk, she had been at the camp before but there's always new things to see and do and there's always new people to bump into and make friends with and Holly is the easiest person to make friends with, she considers everybody her friend if she likes them enough.
Feeling bored as she wandered around, she didn't see much that was new, she had seen it all before and not knowing what to do with herself now she thought she'd go around to practice one of her songs that she had written with some of her friends and there was always a sound check guy to help out, she just wanted to do it for a laugh, nothing serious and the only thing that makes Holly not truly bored is singing, even if she's not the best at it. She just loves a laugh and a giggle at something light-hearted.
Making her way through the glass door to the practice rooms building, it seemed like nobody was around and she shrugged to herself, where was everybody today? did they know something she didn't? probably. Nearing the main practice rooms Holly could hear somebody playing the piano or something like it but somebody could have just left somebody recording on in the background, the amount of times she had found a CD or station that had been left running was unbelievable. The nearer she got she saw one of the doors open around the corner through the glass windows. Peaking her head around the side of the door she smiled. "Hiya Ava" she muttered happily "Nice playing. Don't think i've heard that one before, it's cute, what's up? Piano get on your nerves?" she knew what it was like for an instrument to annoy you, but she meant it with a laugh, Holly's always jokng and playing around. She was glad she found somebody else around to talk to and her friends are even better.

Hearing footsteps as someone entered the room, Ava instinctively tensed up. These days, anyone coming toward her was a threat until proven otherwise. As soon as she heard Holly's familiar, kind voice flitting lightly on the air though, Avarei relaxed. She knew that Holly Kennedy was okay. The happy, bouncy girl had been one of the few people in her her school who hadn't hated for what happened last year, and Ava considered her and her younger brother Hart to be friends good friends.
Avarei turned toward Holly with a warm smile, and scooted over to make room beside her on the piano stool. "Thanks" she sighed, pleased by the compliment, but still frustrated by her music. "and no, you wouldn't have. It's one of mine, and I can't seem to get it right." she explained, frowning. An idea popped into Ava's head before she'd even finished her sentence, and relief washed over her. Holly would be able to help. "Hey, you write lyrics sometimes, right?" she checked, suddenly more upbeat. "do you think you could take a look over these and help me get it to flow better? It sounds like something a ten year old wrote.." she asked, plastering on her sweetest smile. "please?"
Somewhere at the back of her mind, Ava was aware that the song would probably work better with not only Holly's lyrics, but her vocals, too. But she didn't want to scare her friend off the idea by asking too much from her. For now, she would settle just for the help with writing. "A second opinion would really help, and I value yours more than most people's." she added, holding the lyrics out to her. Complimenting people always helped, and in this case it was actually true.

Finally glad she had found somebody she knew and even if Avaeri had been the subject of gossip before Holly didn't care because there was no harm done to her and she doesn't like to interfere in other peoples business if it didn't involve her, she would rather stay well out so she didn't get dragged in but if any of her friends or family were involved she would be straight in there, defending them. Happy that she wasn't being turned away like others had done, Holly is often too nosey for her own good and it can get her in trouble sometimes but she just likes to know what's going on so she isn't left behind looking stupid which is often the case. Smiling as she usually does, not many people can erase the smile from Holly face unless they upset her, she skipped over and sat quickly down beside Avaeri as she scooted over to make room for her. Holly knew she was no genius at playing piano but she liked to give it a go sometimes but usually always needed help and the more keys on a keyboard or a piano she gets more confused and she is easily confused, sometimes she will catch on and sometimes she's left looking stupid. "It sounds fine to me, I like it. You shouldn't change it cause then you'll want to change everything else about it and then you'll just confuse yourself more, I've been there" she chimed with a slight laugh
Listening intently as Avaeri asked her about her lyrics, Holly nodded enthusiastically. Holly was forever and always writing lyrics and poems until her heart was content. If there was ever a situation where Holly couldn't get outside she would either sit and draw, another of her creative hobbies, or if she had an idea she would sit and write something and Holly was always happy to help out and give her creative opinion on anything if somebody asked. Leaning over the front of the piano slightly and trying to careful she didn't slip and crash into the keys, placing her elbows onto the ledge where Ava's book of lyrics sat. Holly thought the lyrics were good, they were sweet and cute and special in a way, special to some people and probably really special to Ava, considering that nobody else had heard that song before, maybe she wanted to keep it to herself.
Picking up the pencil that resided on the ledge Holly wanted to help as best she could but she didn't want to change the whole song, putting her own lyrics in might take away from the meaning of the song. Scribbling out a few words here and there, Holly replaced them with more rhyming words to match the previous line and added a line in here and there, not a lot but just some things that she felt would fit in better. "That's a really sweet song, and no... it's not like it's written by a ten year old" Holly doesn't like it when other people try to put themselves down, she always like to see people do well and be happy. "I really love it and hopefully it's maybe a little bit better?" she asked sincerely, she hoped she hadn't made it worse. "but you don't seem overly happy, something up?" Holly liked to ask people about themselves and try to make things better, she felt like the camps counsellor sometimes but she loves to make things happy and better for people.

Avarei smiled. Holly always knew how to brighten up her day. "Thanks" she said, reading over the newly tweaked song. "that works way better. you're my hero, Holls." she beamed, much happier already now that she'd had Holly's help and her song fitted together. That happiness faded a little at the question that followed, though. Somehow, Holly always seemed to pick up on even the slightest sadness in Ava's voice whenever she was down- which had been increasingly often lately.
"Hm? Naw, i'll be fine." she shrugged, trying to brush it off. "it's this song... you know how I get when I'm singing my own stuff. It's more... emotional. Like, I have more of a link to the song." Ava sighed, purposely being vague. Hopefully, Holly wouldn't worry too much about her. The real reason for her strange mood had very little to do with her music, and more to do with the boy who'd inspired it. Avarei had heard some people saying that Tyler Bradford was her with team Auz this year, and it had dredged up all kinds of things she'd rather forget.
"would you mind singing this for me, while I play?" Ava asked, changing the subject quickly, "I really think the song would suit your style better. It's too emotional for my voice." Holly was known for her amazing prowess at ballads, she could hit high notes spectacularly, and hold them for what felt like decades without wavering. Listening to her sing this would be like witnessing a miracle, especially after spending the past hour hearing it over and over in her own mournful, slightly raspy voice.
